Psalms in the Summer:
Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Greenville, NC

Dear People of Our Redeemer,

In the summer of 2012, members of Our Redeemer Lutheran are invited to take time to “abide”—through prayer, Scripture, and conversation. And to ask: “Who, God, are you calling us to BE as a congregation?”

This June, you are invited to read the 150 psalms; five psalms a day for 30 days. And as you do, to ask in prayer: “Who, God, are you calling us to BE as a congregation?” For more details on the schedule of readings, see the Discussion Calendar linked above. You might consider keeping a journal of things you hear as you pray the Psalms. Or post a comment on this Forum, or on the Church's Facebook wall.

You can, pray the Psalms at home, at work, or on vacation. As you do, please pray: “Who, God, are you calling us to BE as a congregation?” What ought to be our priorities? What strengths make us unique? What are our congregational gifts that could benefit each other and our community?

The ORLC Church Council is preparing for “long-term planning.” Before we think about what God is calling us to DO, let us prayerfully consider who God is calling us to BE. Jesus said: “Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit…” (John 15:5). Thank you!
